Minister Alex White meets Drug Task Force community reps
Three weeks after his appointment as Minister with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy, Alex White met with Community & Voluntary Reps on the Drug Task Forces. At a Citywide event Minister White said that "we should not lose sight of what was achieved in the 1990's".
Upcoming Legislation on Child Protection & Vulnerable Persons
A Citywide seminar explored the implications of three pieces of legislation that will affect community drug projects working directly and indirectly with children and vulnerable persons.
Drug Rehab Community Employment - waiting lists decimated
Waiting lists for places on Drug Rehab CE programmes dropped by 67% from December 2011 to October 2012. Projects responding to the latest Citywide survey report that almost 25% of approved places are currently vacant. This situation is directly attributable to the changes made in the Social Welfare Bill 2012.
Citywide has produced a pre-budget submission centered on the need to reverse the changes in the 2012 Social Welfare Bill. These changes have resulted in a huge drop in take up of places on Drug Rehab Projects.
Citywide will be delivering our one day 'Community Reps Skill Training' for community activists and service user forum members in the South Western Regional Drug Task Force
