Survey conducted with crack cocaine drug users in the Clondalkin area

17 May 2013

Bawnogue Youth and Family Support Group report of an ethnographic survey conducted with crack cocaine drug users in the Clondalkin area. Download the report here

The survey sought to find an effective crack cocaine pipe that could be distributed as part of a harm reduction strategy that would help to minimise the harm caused from sharing drug using paraphernalia such as HIV, Hep B,C, and TB.

Some interesting statistics are shown in the report in relation to how many times a week a cohort of the service users were taking crack cocaine, crack cocaine and methadone maintenance, crack cocaine prices, female crack cocaine use and barriers to effective harm reduction practises. As far as we know this is the first report of its kind in Ireland.
