Drug-related Intimidation in Communities Report

The report from the Citywide seminar (April 9th, 2013)

Over 80 project workers and community representatives attended the Citywide seminar.  Time was given to discuss experiences of intimidation in communities and projects; the feedback from these discussions is included in the report.  The report also includes presentations from:

  • Dr. Niamh Hourigan, Senior Lecturer in Sociology at University College Cork and editor of Understanding Limerick: Social Exclusion and Change, an edited collection of work which features an in-depth community level study of fear and feuding in the city
  • Johnny Connolly, Research Officer, Health Research Board.
  • Siobhan Maher, National Family Support Network: Drug Related Intimidation Reporting Programme
  • Phillip Jennings, Safer Blanchardstown – Research report:  Tackling Intimidation – a collective response to the Iceberg of Intimidation

The seminar also discussed participation in a research project which aims to gather evidence to investigate effective responses to the issues raised.  Download the report here
