20 Jul 2007

The Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force (MWRDTF), established in 2003, has a remit for the implementation of the NATIONAL DRUGS STRATEGY in County Clare, County Limerick, North Tipperary and Limerick City.

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably experienced/skilled groups and organisations in each of the four areas to develop the following projects:

COMMUNITY BASED DRUGS INITIATIVES
To provide early intervention and support to drug-using young people and their carers/families, linking them to other specialist support/treatment services as appropriate.

IN THE KNOW PROJECTS
To identify and engage young people within the Community who are involved in drug and alcohol abuse, anti-social behaviour and petty crime, directing them into psycho-social behavioural programmes supporting them to remain in, or return to, learning.

YOUTH DRUG PREVENTION PROJECTS
To provide targeted Drug Misuse Education & Prevention coupled with Personal Development and activity based programmes to targeted young people in a community/cluster of communities.

Following an assessment by the MWRDTF of the Expressions of Interest, suitable applicants will be invited to proceed to the next stage of the process of progressing the projects.
