Taoiseach Message for the Citywide's 30th Anniversary

Recognising the importance of a community development approach to drug issues, the Taoiseach commented: 'Challenges with drugs and substance abuse are experienced in every village, every town, every city across Ireland, but the drivers and catalysts for these problems can vary substantially from community to community. That’s why the community development approach is so vital, as it focuses on listening to the community members themselves, supporting them to identify their own unique challenges and working to address them. Your work on engagement at local level through the Local and Regional Drugs and Alcohol Task Forces, engagement with representative structures such as the Public Participation Networks, Community Drugs Project Networks, are proof positive of the impact community development can have.'
