Summary

The Citywide Family Support Network has been involved on an ongoing basis in the active support of those grandparents or extended family members who take on the role of caring for the children of drug users.

These drug users may have died. Others may still be involved in drug use and so can no longer care for their children. Some are affected by serious health matters such as Hepatitis C,HIV and AIDS;and therefore are not in a position to be able to care for them. Relatives, grandparents, brothers and sisters take on the care of these vulnerable children.
