IDU Harm Reduction Strategies (½ day workshop)

This workshop is designed to enable participants:

  1. To recognise why people inject
  2. Gain an understanding of the possible dangers and risks involved with injecting drug use
  3. Identify harm reduction measures and safer injecting methods

Contents will include:
- Injecting: -

  • Why Inject
  • Injecting technique
  • Injecting sites

- Health Risks: -

  • Blood borne viruses
  • Fungal and bacterial infections
  • Vein and tissue damage, associated with IV use.
  • Injecting equipment/paraphernalia.

All of the above will be covered using input and discussion.

Noel is the URRÚS Trainer and has worked with various groups in the community and voluntary sector of the Drug and Alcohol field over the past eleven years.
