Special CE / Rehab Projects

Citywide facilitates a Network of Special CE / Rehab Projects in the greater Dublin area. The network has linked closely with the FAS NDST representative and other FAS personnel and is committed to the future development of the community based drug project model in partnership with FAS. If your project is not linked into this network contact Ruth.

Special CE / Rehab Projects aim to develop and deliver appropriate and relevant rehabilitation services for drug users in their communities by

  • Providing supports and services to people who are in treatment to enhance the effectiveness of treatment
  • Working with people in identifying their progression needs in relation to personal supports, family support, education and training etc.
  • Facilitating access for people to whatever options are required in integrating them back into normal community life
  • Providing ongoing support for people as they move from treatment to other options

Rehabilitation

The Review of the National Drugs Strategy (2004) concluded that one of the most critical gaps in provision is in relation to rehabilitation. The need to strengthen rehabilitation has emerged as a crucial area of future action and, as a result of the Review, a Working Group was set up to develop an integrated rehabilitation provision. The Group, chaired by the Dept of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, produced its report in May 2007: Report of the Working Group on Drugs Rehabilitation, May 2007
