Drug Rehab Special CE Projects

Citywide facilitates a Network of Drug Rehab Special CE Projects in the greater Dublin area.

Drug Rehab Projects aim to develop and deliver appropriate and relevant rehabilitation services for drug users in their communities by:

  • Providing supports and services to people who are in treatment to enhance the effectiveness of treatment
  • Working with people in identifying their progression needs in relation to personal supports, family support, education and training etc.
  • Facilitating access for people to whatever options are required in integrating them back into normal community life
  • Providing ongoing support for people as they move from treatment to other options

Rehabilitation in the National Drugs Strategy

Rehabilitation is the fifth pillar of the National Drugs Strategy. The Working Group set up to develop an integrated rehabilitation provision has issued its report on the appropriate policy and actions which need to be implemented.

NDRIC

The committee to oversee the implementation of the Rehab Report is the National Drug Rehabilitation Implementation Committee (NDRIC). The NDRIC is made up of representatives of the Health Service Executive (HSE), the National Advisory Committee on Drugs (NACD), the community and voluntary sectors, rehabilitation and health-care professionals, drug users & service users and families of problem drug users.
